Paperjoy Paper categorizes its paper cup raw materials into four product types: PE coated paper rolls, paper cup fan-shaped sheets, PE coated paper sheets, and paper cup bottom paper.

Paperboard or Paper Roll:

This is the primary raw material for paper cups and is typically made from virgin wood pulp, bamboo pulp, or reed pulp. The paperboard must be strong enough to hold liquids without damaging the integrity of the cup. The paper weight used by Paperjoy Paper ranges from 150 to 320 gsm.

Depending on the volume of the cup, different paperboard weights ensure stiffness while also reducing production costs.

Polyethylene Coating:

To make paper cups waterproof and leak-proof, the paperboard is coated with a thin layer of polyethylene (PE), typically 9 to 45 gsm. This coating ensures that paper cups can hold beverages without soaking through. PE coatings can be single-sided or double-sided, depending on the application.

Single-sided coatings are typically used for hot beverages, such as coffee, tea, and hot water. Double-sided coatings can be used for cold beverages. Water molecules in the air liquefy when cooled, forming small droplets that adhere to the outside of the paper cup. The double coating effectively prevents these droplets from penetrating into the interior of the cup, preventing it from softening quickly.

Printing Materials: To meet branding, customization, and aesthetic needs, Paperjoy uses food-grade water-based inks for printing, supporting up to six colors. These materials are non-toxic and meet food safety standards.
